Logitech has announced the launch of MX Ink, a revolutionary stylus designed to work seamlessly with Meta Quest mixed reality headsets. This introduction marks a significant step forward in the mixed reality (MR) landscape, providing users with a familiar, intuitive, and precise tool to enhance creativity and productivity.
Elevating Mixed Reality Interaction
The mixed reality environment is reshaping how we interact with the digital world, demanding tools that are both familiar and precise. The Logitech MX Ink stylus meets this demand, empowering users to engage in high-precision creative tasks and exercise precise control within MR environments. This stylus allows users to create, annotate, and navigate seamlessly, bridging the gap between 2D and 3D spaces.
Logitech’s Legacy of Innovation
“For over four decades, Logitech has been at the forefront of innovation, delivering software-enabled hardware solutions that offer freedom and precise control,” said Vadim Kogan, head of AR/VR at Logitech. “The new MX Ink stylus epitomises our commitment to providing tools that help users express themselves and connect with the digital world. The MX Ink stylus, designed for Meta Quest, transitions effortlessly between 2D and 3D environments, offering the tracking accuracy that Meta Quest users expect.”
Seamless Integration and Compatibility
One of the standout features of the MX Ink stylus is its ability to pair with Meta Quest headsets, supporting more than two controllers at once for the first time. This feature allows users to switch between Meta Quest controllers and the MX Ink stylus without disrupting their workflow. The stylus pairs through the Meta Quest app and is compatible with both Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
“MX Ink offers a first-of-its-kind input device for the Meta Quest ecosystem,” said Furhan Zafar, VP of sustaining product operations and accessories at Meta. “We believe Meta customers will greatly benefit from having such a complementary tool, which will be supported by many applications and widely used by our community.”
A Natural Pen-Like Experience
The MX Ink stylus is designed to feel like a real pen, providing a natural writing and sketching experience. Its pressure-sensitive tip works on various physical surfaces, allowing users to write and sketch naturally in applications such as Painting VR, Engage XR, OpenBrush, and Arkio. This ensures that no line or detail is missed, enhancing the overall user experience.
For users of 3D sketching, design, and modelling software, including Gravity Sketch and Adobe Substance 3D Modeler, the MX Ink stylus offers varying levels of pressure control, enabling more expressive and detailed interactions. In ShapesXR, the stylus provides an intuitive toolset for creating in 3D, while in Elucis by Realize Medical, it brings critical precision to surgical planning.
Enhanced Writing and Drawing Experience
To further enhance the writing and drawing experience, MX Ink can be paired with the MX Mat, a friction-free writing and drawing environment. Additionally, the MX Ink is available with the MX Ink Well, a charging base inspired by traditional pen stands, ensuring that the stylus is always ready for use. The MX Ink stylus is currently supported by a range of applications including Gravity Sketch, ShapesXR, Engage XR, Adobe Substance 3D Modeler, Arkio, Realize Medical, Painting VR, and OpenBrush.
Availability and Developer Integration
The MX Ink stylus, along with the MX Ink + MX Ink Well Combo and MX Mat, will be available later this year through Logitech’s website, Meta’s website, and Amazon. For developers interested in integrating MX Ink with their applications, Logitech has provided resources to apply for a developer kit at their official website.
With the introduction of the MX Ink stylus, Logitech and Meta are set to redefine the possibilities within the mixed reality space, offering users a powerful and intuitive tool to enhance their digital interactions.
